As you know, I hope, the next International Legal Aid Group conference will be held in Johannesburg from the 14-16th June 2017. We have been to look at the venue and accommodation and I am delighted with the options available to us. Good hotel accommodation in South Africa is very reasonably priced – as is the wonderful food.
In addition to the conference we are planning two impressive outings associated with the re-birth of South Africa, namely to Liliesleaf Farm and to the Constitutional Court. Legal Aid South Africa are working closely with ILAG to deliver what we hope will be a truly memorable conference. We are also looking into activities e.g. visiting game parks that might be undertaken on either side of the conference dates. We hope therefore that as many as possible of you will be able to join us in ten months time.
Given the location of the conference it is hoped that it will be possible to extend invitations to delegates from other African countries who do not normally attend ILAG. In order that we can do this and still keep the conference as a working conference (around 90 delegates) it would be very helpful if you could respond to Ms Eileen Ritchie, the conference Administrator, as soon as possible and no later than 31st August indicating whether you hope to join us. It would also be helpful if you would respond to me and Eileen by the same date indicating whether you wish to offer a paper for the conference and, if so, the nature of the topic.
